Balanced Scorecard: Before You Begin; Training and Communication (Chapters Three and Four)

Every major organizational initiative needs proper planning, and designing a Balanced Scorecard is no exception. Chapter three is important for those who have never attempted strategic planning before. It deals with executive sponsorship, what organization levels to begin on, and who should be part of a Balanced Scorecard development team. For those who have done this sort of work before, those are familiar topics, so I will not cover them at length.

Balanced Scorecard: Adapting the Balanced Scorecard (Chapter Two, Conclusion)

Finally–after much time on the road, I have time to focus again on this topic.

As noted earlier, The central point of the Balanced Scorecard is its balanced view of organizations. It pays attention, both in strategy and measurement, to:

  • Finances
  • Customer Perspective
  • Internal Processes
  • Employee Learning and Growth

The same is true in both for-profit and not-for-profit enterprises. But there are differences in the non-profit sector:
